FINANCIAL REPORT 2009
In 2009, a total of 1,720 beneficiaries were supported by the Trust. In addition, our subsidiary charity Lifelites, supports around 5,000 children and their families who use children’s hospices every year.
The number of new cases accepted in 2009 increased significantly on the previous year and this position is being monitored closely. Our strategic aim is to ensure that we can continue to meet our long-term commitments and continue to assist all eligible families that are brought to our attention.
Legacy income was at its highest level for over ten years and we are most grateful to all those who have remembered the Trust in this way. Despite the reduction in rental income, whilst our former headquarters at 31 Great Queen Street is being refurbished, and the reduction in interest following the rate cuts in 2008 and 2009, investment income continues to be our largest source of revenue.
The increase in funds of almost £12M reflects the improvement in the investment market conditions.
Full accounts, which have been audited without qualification, and signed on 20th May 2010, are available request.
The audited accounts were approved at the Annual General Meeting and General Court on 2nd June 2010.
