THE WELFARE DEPARTMENT

The Trust’s Welfare Department consists of four professional, experienced Advisers. Julia Young, the Senior Adviser (top right) is a qualified Family Therapist, Sam Maddocks (middle left) is a former Special Educational Needs Inspector, David Cox (middle right) was previously Head of an inner city referral unit for difficult adolescents, and Kate Smith (bottom right) is a former teacher.

A principal function of Welfare Advisers is to visit every new petition family. This helps to give the Trust the fullest possible picture of a family’s financial need as well as providing the opportunity to offer the family help and advice.

Time permitting; the Advisers try to visit families on a regular basis though, inevitably, some families have greater need for personal support than others.

Between them, the Advisers have a wide range of knowledge on children, family and education issues. Any Masonic family is welcome to contact one of the Advisers for advice but priority must be given to families receiving grants from the Trust.
